President Asif Ali Zardari reiterated the government’s commitment on Wednesday that it would defeat the terrorist elements at all costs and ensure lasting peace and development in Balochistan.

Presiding over a meeting on the law and order situation in Balochistan, the President highlighted the threat of terrorists who want to divide the country.

The meeting was attended by Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Acting Governor Balochistan Captain (R) Abdul Khaliq Achakzai, Chief Secretary Balochistan Shakeel Qadir Khan, IG Police Muzam Jah Ansari and other senior officials.

Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti briefed the meeting on the law and order situation in the province.

President Zardari said on the occasion, “The situation is clear that the state will remain and we will have to win the war on terror.”

He emphasized that the government would provide the latest weapons to the counter -terrorism force.

The President added, “Balochistan is close to our heart and we want development and lasting peace in the province.”

He expressed his desire that every child of Balochistan should be educated and the children should be exposed to modern technology.

President Zardari has arrived in Balochistan on the occasion when a meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security was held in Islamabad on Tuesday after the March 11 attack on Jaffar Express, which expressed his resolve to root out terrorism.

At the meeting, the country’s national political and military leadership decided to create consensus to tackle extremism with ‘full force’ and emphasize the need for united political commitment, as well as deal with the extremists.
