Railway Minister Ashwini Vishnu says that we are keeping an eye on those who are conspiring to overturn trains by placing various objects like stones, iron etc. on the railway track. Railway Minister said that we are taking these cases seriously and NIA has also been involved in investigating such cases. He said, ‘Railway management has taken these matters seriously. We are in touch with state governments, DGP, home secretaries and police etc. Apart from this, NIA has also been involved. The minister said in a stern tone that we will take strict action against those involved in such cases. The railway administration is working hard to ensure that no such incident takes place on the railway track again.
Apart from this, we will also catch the wrongdoers. He said that Railways is engaged in ensuring security by involving all zones and RPF. Such cases have come to light at many places including Kanpur, Ajmer, when various objects like rods, stones were placed on the railway track. Only LPG cylinder was found at one place. In many such incidents vigilance of railway drivers helped to avoid accidents but the question arises as to who are the perpetrators of such incidents. After all, why do these people want to cause a major accident in the country by overturning the trains?
Just on September 22, one such case came to light, when a gas cylinder was found on a railway track. Due to the presence of mind of the train driver, a major accident was avoided and the driver applied the emergency brake. This train was traveling from Kanpur to Prayagraj. A similar case also came to light in Kanpur on September 15. Then someone placed cylinders and other objectionable items in front of Kalindi Express.
Also, on September 21, unknown persons removed fish plates from the tracks. Keyman Subhash Kumar reported this to the authorities and immediately thereafter trains on the route were stopped a short distance from the accident site. However, the Railways has arrested three people, who turned out to be its employees, in this case. A similar incident took place on Sunday on the Bathinda-Delhi route, when 9 bars were placed on the railway track. The incident took place at 3 am.
