Well we did it, 100k bitcoins are here. I’m sure many of you are quite happy with where your net worth is right now, and in that case you all have to exercise a huge amount of self-control to get your coins. In that situation in the first place.
You are all here because you got lucky in the beginning, you got Bitcoin at the right time, you got introduced to someone you trusted, you got the right confluence of events at the right time to take it seriously. Not because you stayed, not because you endured everything. It took your own effort and choices. But the reason you got here in the first place is luck.
I think it’s important to keep this in mind. It is a combination of luck and your own effort that has brought you here, it is not just you and your talent or strong will. This is a confluence of both.
This is truly the point of no return, and a major change in what’s going to happen next. The problems are getting worse, they are not going away just because we are now much richer. With more money will come more difficulties, more challenges that we have to face. And more money would bring in even more people, all of whom would have to be convinced that these problems exist. Are sure that the solutions to these are things that we have to work on.
Fix the money, fix the world. There is a grain of truth in that phrase, but the reality is that the money is not settled yet. Limited supply isn’t the only problem with money. Has the ability to seize, monitor, control your money. Those problems can’t be fixed simply because Bitcoin exists with its limited supply.
To fix those problems, Bitcoin will have to really scale. We need the network to be accessible to so many people that it prevents coins from being concentrated in a handful of large custodians that can be trivially captured by regulation. Without this your money will be confiscated. This will be monitorable. None of those problems will be solved.
So don’t let the price distract you from that. Control your ego and have a realistic approach. Things haven’t been decided yet, not even close, just because of a number on the screen. There is still much to be done before these basic money problems become a thing of the past.
