New Delhi: Jose Butler was closed with a vision after his team’s fall after a seven -wicket defeat against South Africa on Saturday. Butler’s comments described his heavy batting as a “story of our side” to outline England’s winner exhaust from the Champions Trophy.
The match marked a disappointing end for his ODI captaincy, with England out of 179 – the lowest clan of this version – when he chose to bat. South Africa comfortably chased the target in just 29.1 overs.
Butler said at the match press conference, “Actually disappointing performance. We were less than the mark today. It was a decent surface-a very slow but a little two-book. We are not telling those big, contributions that have been a story of this side for some time,” Butler told the press conference after the match.
Asked about the decrease in his batsmen, Butler replied, “I don’t know, to be honest. As a whole group, we are not getting results and it removes some confidence. It is a change for everyone, a change of view, a change, hard work.
Butler said, “There is a huge opportunity for everyone in the dressing room now and outside people and said that they want to be a part of these white-ball teams,” Butler has already announced that Saturday’s match will be their last as a white-ball captain.
“There is no doubt that talent is.
Considering his captaincy, Butler said that winning the 2022 T20 World Cup remains a memorable moment.
“It was a great time. Being a World Cup winning captain is an incredibly proud moment. It was the best day in a captaincy shirt.”
Praising former captain Joe Root, Butler said: “Jo has been a bright light and is a great example for the whole of English cricket. We have seen him since abandoning the captaincy since taking his game to a new level. Hopefully, I can follow his leadership.”
