Trace Cyrus has called out his famous father.
In a long, scathing and personal open letter shared on Instagram, Miley Cyrus’ 35-year-old brother addressed their father, Billy Ray, directly.
And absolutely nothing was held back.
“My earliest memories since I can remember are being obsessed with you and thinking you were the coolest person,” wrote Trace, who was adopted by the musician as a baby.
“I wanted to be like you. The day you adopted me was the happiest day of my life. Sadly, I wanted what I wanted so desperately that I barely recognize it anymore. ,
Trace is also related to Brandi, 37, Bryson, 30, and Noah, 24.
“It seems like this world has beat you down and it’s become clear to everyone but you,” Billy Ray’s son continued.
“Me and the girls have been really worried about you for years, but you’ve thrown us all away.”
Billy Ray Cyrus performed as part of Donald Trump’s presidential inauguration in Washington, D.C. on Monday, making headlines at the time for his huge meltdown over alleged technical difficulties.
“As I write this with tears in my eyes, I hope you know that this message comes from a place of only love and also fear that the world may lose you too soon,” Trace wrote. Said, adding that his parents had a drug problem and adding:
“I don’t know exactly what you’re struggling with, but I think I have a pretty good idea and I’d love to help you if you’d open up and get help. You know how to reach me. “
The day after the Liberty Ball on January 20, Billy Ray claimed that his performance was affected by technical difficulties, telling People Magazine in a statement:
“I would not have missed the honor of playing this show whether or not my microphone, guitar and monitors worked. I was there because President Donald J. Trump had invited me.
“I had a ball at the Liberty Ball last night and I’ve learned through all these years that when the producer says, ‘You’re on,’ you entertain the equipment, even if the equipment goes to hell. Went there and had a blast it’s called rock n roll!!!
Following Billy Ray’s split from wife Tish, it’s not exactly a secret that he’s estranged from his children.
To conclude his social media post, meanwhile, Trace included an old photo of little Trace shaking his father’s hand.
“Until that day I will continue to pray for you,” the young man wrote.
