In Hiranpur village of Akdal police station area of Etawah, the Diwali joys turned to mourning when an attempt to lay a rail on a railway track proved fatal for two friends. Villagers Anuj Kumar (21 years) and Ranjit (19 years), who worked as painters in Ahmedabad, had come home to celebrate Diwali. After celebrating the festival with great fanfare throughout the night, on Friday morning the two friends went out to make rails on the railway track.
Both were making video on their mobile phones when suddenly the Humsafar Express train came at high speed and took both of them in its lap. The accident was so terrible that both their bodies were cut into pieces and they died on the spot. As soon as the incident was reported, the villagers reached the spot and collected the body parts. After this tragic accident, there was chaos in the village. Chaos ensued in both the families.
Lives were lost while making rallies on the railway tracks.
Anuj’s father Dashrat said that his son had come home from Ahmedabad to celebrate Diwali and left in the morning saying to use the toilet. After some time he got this sad news. Ranjit’s father Bhore Singh said he was working in the fields and came to know about the accident after inquiring about his son. The situation is bad with tears in the eyes of both the families.
Police registered a case and started investigation.
Superintendent of Police Abhay Nath Tripathi said that the incident took place on the railway track under Akdal police station. Railway workers said that when the Champaran Humsafar train passed in the morning, the two youths were making rails and were hit by the train. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem.
