The deal can be announced by US President Donald Trump during the next month of Middle East.
The United States is ready to offer a weapon package to Saudi Arabia for more than $ 100BN, the Reuters News Agency report, cited six sources familiar with the case.
The deal is allegedly in work before US President Donald Trump before a planned visit by Saudi Arabia, Qatar and United Arab Emirates next month, revered by Reuters on Thursday.
According to Reuters, top defense contractors such as Lockheed Martin, RTX Corp, Boeing, Northrop Gramman and General Atomics are reported to be involved in the supply of advanced arms systems, and many officers of the companies are expected to join the delegation of Trump for travel.
Sources quoted by Reuters say that contractor can supply Riyadh with several weapons including C -130 transport aircraft, missiles and radar systems.
However, it is unlikely that Saudi Arabia will get access to Lockheed Martin’s F -35 fighter jet. Only a few select countries can buy F-35s from America, such as NATO allies, Japan, South Korea and Australia.
Trump’s predecessor, President Joe Biden tried unsuccessfully to sign a new defense agreement with Saudi Arabia with a wide purpose to normalize relations with Israel. Biden’s agreement also asked Riyadh to restrict Chinese investment and stop arms purchases from Beijing, but Reuters said it could not establish whether Trump’s proposed deal would call for similar sanctions.
Neither the White House nor the Saudi officials immediately responded to the request of the comment, but the US Defense Officer told Reuters that the “security cooperation of the US-Sawy Relations is an important component”. None of the defense contractors nominated by Reuters responded to Query.
While the US has long supplied Saudi Arabia with weapons, sales fell in 2018 after the assassination of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashogi. In 2021, the US Congress banned the sale of aggressive weapons to Saudi Arabia in view of the murder and Riyadh’s participation in the war in Yemen.
The biden administration on Saudi Arabia began to soften its stance in 2022 after affecting the supply of global oil after the invasion of Russia in Ukraine, and the sale of aggressive weapons was banned in 2024 as Saudi Arabia was seen as a major partner by the US in the re -reconstruction of the Gaza war.
