WhatsApp, the messaging platform owned by Meta, is used by millions of users worldwide. New features are constantly being added to the app based on feedback received from users and their needs, to improve the chatting experience. Now the new group description feature is part of Communities, so users can learn about a group before they join it.
WABetaInfo, a platform that provides information about WhatsApp updates and new features, has said in its report that the group description feature for communities is now being rolled out to all users. This change is visible in iOS version 24.16.75 of WhatsApp. A screenshot of this has also surfaced, showing that there is now an option to write a group description as an alternative.

In messaging apps, users are often made part of or sent an invitation to a new group. Every time the reason for creating a group by name alone is not known and what will be the benefit. In this case, this information will be available with the group description feature before becoming a part of the group. Users will know whether they want to be a part of the group or not and what the purpose of the group is.
Currently, the new feature is part of the stable version of the iOS app. As such, some users have started getting its benefits and others will start getting this feature in the next few weeks. If you are also an iPhone user, keep your app updated to the latest version. After iOS, this feature will also be provided in the Android app.

The messaging platform is working on another feature that will see users’ animated avatars appear on their profile screen. Users also get the option to create their own avatar in other meta services and create stickers for it. These avatars can be customized and the beta version has started testing changes related to them.
