New Delhi. All parties have submitted details of candidates’ expenditure in the recently concluded 18th Lok Sabha elections to the Election Commission. The Congress has also presented the details of the money spent on its candidates in the elections. According to the Commission’s website, Rahul Gandhi spent Rs 1.4 million during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The Congress leader contested the Lok Sabha elections from two seats, Wayanad in Kerala and Rae Bareli in Uttar Pradesh. The party had given him Rs 70 lakh for each Lok Sabha constituency, which he spent equally on both the seats. Rahul had succeeded in both. However, he retained Rae Bareilly’s seat.

The Congress submitted the expenditure details of the recently concluded general elections to the Election Commission. According to the ‘expenditure details’ uploaded on the website, the Congress had given Rs 70 lakh to almost all the leaders to contest the elections.

The leaders who got 70 lakh rupees.

  1. Kishori Lal Sharma who defeated Union Minister Smriti Irani from Amethi.
  2. Alappuzha, Kerala to KC. Venugopal
  3. Manickam Tagore from Virudhunagar, Tamil Nadu
  4. Radhakrishna from Gulbarga, Karnataka
  5. Vijay Inder Singla belongs to Anandpur Sahib of Punjab.

Among the Congress leaders who were given more than Rs 70 lakh is Mandi Lok Sabha constituency leader Vikramaditya Singh. Singh got Rs 87 lakh and lost the election. At the same time, the party of Raqib Al Hussain, who won from Assam’s Dhubri, gave 75 lakh rupees. Meanwhile, senior Congress leaders Anand Sharma and Digvijaya Singh, who lost both the elections, got Rs 46 lakh and Rs 50 lakh respectively.

How much did the other party spend?
A look at the Election Commission’s website reveals that Mamata Banerjee’s party Trinamool Congress had given Rs 75 lakh each to its 48 candidates. While in Tamil Nadu, the DMK party gave 70 lakhs each to its 22 candidates for the elections. Along with this, the Samajwadi Party gave Rs 60 lakh to its chief Akhilesh Yadav, while his wife and Mainpuri MP Dimple Yadav got Rs 72.15 lakh. SP leader Udhesh Prasad who won from Ayodhya got Rs 20 lakh. Bharatiya Janata Party details are not uploaded yet.
