The Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) recently rejected a report published by Reuters which claimed that Indian ammunition was being diverted to Ukraine. Reacting to the report, the External Affairs Ministry termed it as “imaginary and misleading” and said the allegations leveled against India in it were baseless. India says it has not broken any rules. According to the MEA statement, “We have seen the Reuters report. It is based on speculations and there is no truth in it. The violations alleged against India are completely false and mischievous. “

The MEA also said that India has an impeccable record of export of defense and dual-use materials under international obligations. According to the MEA, “India fully complies with its international obligations and has a strong legal and regulatory framework for exports. All relevant norms are reviewed holistically, including end-user responsibilities and Certification as well.” This statement makes it clear that India is fully transparent and responsible in its defense exports and has not violated any international treaties or agreements. The MEA called the Reuters report “misleading” and said it misrepresented India.

India’s regulatory framework for defense exports always ensures that all exports are within international laws and treaties and do not conflict with them. The MEA stressed that all of India’s activities are completely legal and responsible, and that the country has not witnessed any irregularities.

Earlier, Reuters claimed in a report that cannon balls sold by Indian arms companies have reached Europe via Ukraine. It was said that despite Russia’s opposition, India has not yet intervened to stop this sale. According to several Indian and European officials, as well as customs data, the export of ammunition for Ukraine’s attacks against Russia has been going on for more than a year. Among the European countries that send Indian ammunition to Ukraine are Italy and the Czech Republic. These countries are leading the initiative to supply arms to Ukraine.
