Congress demanded to increase SC, ST, OBC reservation limit by 50%.Advocating reservation on the basis of social and economic backwardness.Expressing concern over the alleged politics of Election Commission and Judiciary.
New Delhi. In the political resolution passed in the Congress Working Committee meeting, the party has presented its views on several issues. In the statement issued in the meeting of the Congress Working Committee, it was said that the CWC demands that the socio-economic caste census be conducted as soon as possible. The reservation limit of 50% for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and OBCs should be increased so that these three traditionally disadvantaged groups of our society get maximum benefits. Reservation should be on the basis of social, economic or educational backwardness, determined through appropriate means.
The statement issued at the Congress Working Committee meeting said that the CWC is deeply concerned about the continued decline in our democracy. Institutions like the judiciary, the Election Commission and the media have been politicized through executive pressure. Parliament’s credibility has been destroyed.
The CWC has condemned the Centre’s amendment to the Election Conduct Rules, 1961 on the recommendation of the Election Commission of India. which prevents public access to important parts of election documents. This undermines the principles of transparency and accountability. Which is the basis of free and fair elections. Congress said that we have challenged these amendments in the Supreme Court. The way the elections have been conducted, especially in Haryana and Maharashtra, has already destroyed the integrity of the electoral process.
What should the formula of reservation be? The march of the party will continue throughout the year.

The CWC considered the Foreign Minister’s announcement regarding the disengagement between Indian and Chinese troops in eastern Ladakh. This falls far short of India’s stated target of restoring pre-April 2020 status and represents the country’s biggest regional shock in decades. The CWC has reiterated its demand that the government take the opposition into confidence and allow a comprehensive debate in Parliament on the LAC situation. The CWC expressed concern over the recent increase in attacks on religious minorities in Bangladesh. The party has urged the central government to work with the Bangladesh government to ensure their safety and welfare.
