CM Omar Abdullah said that public anger and peaceful demonstrations from Katwa to Kupwara are a sign of solidarity against terrorism. When the people are with us, terrorism will end. Opposition Leaders Sunil Sharma (BJP), Congress GA Mir, Sajjad Loan (People’s Conference), Vidur Rahman Para (PDP) and Mai Tergami (CPIM) also condemned the attack. Abdullah made it clear that he would not use the tragedy to demand a state status. “How can I ask for a state status at the center after the death of 26 people? My politics is not so cheap.” Accepting his responsibility as Minister of Tourism, he said, “I called tourists, but failed to protect them.”
