New Delhi : BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi made a scathing tweet in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar over disclosing the names of food shop owners ahead of the Kanwar Yatra. In an indirect reference to the order, Naqvi said on Thursday that faith should be respected, but untouchability should not be protected. Naqvi also said that orders from some overzealous officials could lead to the 'disease of hasty untouchability'.

When some people tried to 'troll' Naqvi over this tweet, he posted another one. Posting an old picture of himself, Naqvi wrote, “Hey troll ponies… atleast don't give me certificate of respect for Kanwar Yatra. I always believe that any faith is hostage to intolerance and untouchability. Naqvi also shared an old picture of himself in which he is seen carrying a kanwar on his shoulder.
Earlier, the Muzaffarnagar police had ordered all eateries along the Kannur Yatra route to reveal the names of their owners, to avoid 'confusion'. Opposition parties are seeing the order as an attempt to target traders from a particular community. Earlier, Naqvi had written in his tweet that “Don't ask caste of birth, ka jaat aro pat.” Raidas beta sab prabhu k, koi nahi jati.
