Kolkata: Cyclone Dana is set to wreak havoc in West Bengal and Odisha. The IMD has issued an alert in West Bengal amid the threat of cyclone and cyclone. According to the Indian Meteorological Department, Cyclone Dana will hit Bengal and Odisha on October 24. Due to this, there will be heavy rain from Bengal to Odisha. People around the coast have been alerted. Fishermen have been requested not to go into the sea during this time.

In fact, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning that Cyclone ‘Dana’ will intensify in several districts of Bengal. The cyclone is likely to cross Odisha coast and reach West Bengal coast between October 24 night and October 25 morning. During this time, the wind speed can reach 100 to 120 km per hour.

According to the report of the Meteorological Department, a storm is forming in the South Andaman Sea from Sunday. The storm will develop over the Bay of Bengal by Tuesday. Meteorologists have predicted that it will approach Odisha coast on October 24 night. The Meteorological Department also said that a severe calamity may occur in Bengal ahead of the grand Kali Puja to be held in Bengal. In this regard, the East Madanipur district administration of Bengal has held a meeting with all the BDOs and SDOs of the coastal areas, all the relief materials have been stocked.

Coastal areas of West Bengal will be monitored. In addition, a warning has been issued to prevent fishermen from venturing further into the deep sea. On the other hand, keeping in view the weather conditions in Digha, one of the most important tourist destinations of the state, whether restrictions will be imposed on tourists or not will be informed tomorrow, Wednesday. East Madanipur District Magistrate Purnandu Maji said that the East Madanipur district administration is fully prepared to deal with the storm.

Meanwhile, besides Odisha and West Bengal, many districts of neighboring states Andhra Pradesh and Jharkhand are also likely to receive rain. The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rain on October 23 in coastal districts of West Bengal, East Madanipur, West Madanipur, South 24 Parganas and North 24 Parganas. The department said that heavy to very heavy rain is expected at one or two places in East Madanipur, West Madanipur, South 24 Parganas and Jhargram on October 24 and 25. The Meteorological Department also said that heavy to very heavy rain is expected in Kolkata, Howrah, Hooghly, North 24 Parganas, Purulia and Bankura districts on October 24 and 25.
