UPSC has got a new Chairperson. Now former health secretary Preeti Sudan has got this responsibility. The notification of his appointment has been issued by the President. Currently Preeti Sudan is a member of UPSC, who will now be the Chairperson after promotion. Preeti Sudan, a 1983 batch IAS officer, has been the health secretary for a long time. Also, she is a member of UPSC from 2022.
He has got the charge as the UPSC chief at a time when the controversy surrounding trainee IAS Pooja Khedkar is going on. In this case, UPSC has registered an FIR against Pooja Khedkar and the investigation is on. The Crime Branch of the Delhi Police is currently investigating Pooja Khedkar and is preparing to summon her for questioning.
