What is Congress’s plan for Haryana?
After the crushing defeat in Haryana, the Congress has now started to revive the organisation. According to the strategy, the party is preparing for change in two major positions. Among them, one post is that of the opposition leader and the other is that of the state president. Bhupinder Singh Hooda is on the post of Leader of Opposition and Chaudhary Udayabhan is on the post of State President.
From Chandigarh to Delhi, the question has been raised as to whose chair will remain, Hooda or Uday Bhan, and to whom it will go. Even if it is gone, who will be the chair first?
There is a crisis in both their seats.
Both Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Chaudhary Uday Bhan’s positions are in trouble after the defeat in the elections. Hooda was unofficially the biggest CM face of the Congress. The party had given tickets to 72 of his supporters out of which only 30 managed to win. Hooda is now 77 years old. In such a case, it is being said that a new face can be given a place in their place.
Chaudhary Uday Bhan has also failed to perform. Uday Bhan himself lost the MLA from Hodal seat. It is being said that because of Uday Bhan, the factionalism of the Haryana Congress was exposed in the elections, in such a situation, the chances of him retaining the seat are less.
Legislative party meeting was held.
The Legislature Party met in Chandigarh to elect the Leader of the Opposition. In the meeting, all the MLAs gave the right to elect the opposition leader to the Congress High Command. Former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda made a proposal in this regard.
After the resolution was passed, observers from Delhi sought the opinion of each MLA. According to Congress treasurer Ajay Maken, now the high command will choose the opposition leader based on this poll.
Whose chair will go first?
There is also a question whether the position of opposition leader or speaker will be elected first. According to former Chhattisgarh deputy CMTS Singh Dev, who attended the Congress Legislature Party meeting, the exercise to elect the Leader of the Opposition has just begun. The National President of Congress will decide when the President will resign.
According to sources, in view of the new assembly session in Haryana, the Congress may soon announce the new Leader of the Opposition. About who will be the leader of the opposition, 2-3 names are circulating in the political circles of Haryana.
Along with this, there may be a change in the post of President after the Maharashtra and Jharkhand elections. There is a proposal to change the presidents and in-charges of several states within the Congress.
Jats and non-Jats will unite in Haryana.
Recently Congress was defeated in Jat and non-Jat elections. In such a situation, the Congress will take care of both the communities and prepare a new leadership. It is being said that one of the two posts can be given to a Jat and the other to a non-Jat.
Chances of giving the chair of opposition leader only to Huda group are high. This is because of the strength of the Huda group. The Huda faction currently has the support of 30-31 MLAs.
In such a case, the speaker’s chair may be given to the camp opposing Hooda. Currently in Haryana, one group belongs to Bhupinder Singh Hooda and the other group belongs to Randeep Surjewala and Kumari Selja.
Jats constitute about 22% of the population in Haryana. Similarly, 20 percent of the state is Dalits. Apart from these two castes, the population of upper castes is 11 percent. Ahirs and Gujjars also constitute about 10 percent in the state.
Congress reduced to 37 in Haryana
In the Haryana Assembly Elections 2024, the Congress party narrowed down to only 37 seats. Out of 90 seats in the state, 47 seats have come to BJP’s account. BJP’s Naib Singh Saini has again become the Chief Minister. However, Congress says that we have lost the election in 20 seats because of EVM machines.
The Congress has decided to form a fact-finding committee to look into the defeat. The committee will collect reports from across Haryana and submit it to the Congress High Command. The fact-finding committee will try to find out why the Congress lost in Haryana.
