China’s Bai Yulu falls short in her bid to reach the UK Championships
Women’s world snooker champion Bai Yulu fell short in her bid to reach the UK Championship after a 6-1 defeat to Jack Lisowski in the last qualifying round.
The 21-year-old Chinese sensation defeated three players to register another win and become the first woman to make the main draw of a Triple Crown tournament.
But their hopes were dashed when Lisowski, a UK Championship semi-finalist two years ago, scored five half-centuries in their meeting on Wednesday.
Bai, who booked his place at Judgment Day by beating Scott Donaldson 6-5, had a chance to level the match at 1-1 after trailing 69-0 in the second frame, but missed the final blue .
Lisowski took it and led 4–0.
Bye claimed the fifth frame after a break of 59, but Lisowski was not to be denied and with runs of 85 and 66 sealed his place at York the following week.
